The King Speaks: day 4 devotion

Read Matthew 5:14, Romans 13:11-14 and Ephesians 5:8-15
As you go through today, find two opportunities today to bring light into the lives of others through the visibility of goodness, righteousness and truth.
Since we're only part-way through the day, I haven't any examples yet to share; aside from bringing light to my little one. She woke up a grumpy bear today.  Rather than being grumpy right along with her (which is easy for me to do), I decided to instead stay cheerful, be patient and shower her with love.

We'll see what the day brings for my second example!

  1. The Carters will have to find our opportunities tomorrow bc we get to our study at night...This does remind me however of when we were dating back in 2000, we used to just sit around coffee shops and wait for people to come to us and we would listen to their problems and talk to them about Jesus. We would also go down to downtown Pasedena with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and hang out near where all the transients were and offer them food and just talk and show them that Christians are not judgmental or weird, just normal people who cared. I feel now like that was so daring of us back then but that is really how Jesus wants us to be.

    1. Sam what a cool story and idea! What a bold way to share the love of Jesus with people. So cool!

  2. I will need to look for opportunities tomorrow also. I am working in software support so I have the chance every day to talk to people and help them. My attitude when I help them can go one of two ways so I definitely want to concentrate on the way I handle those support calls. Especially if the caller is upset.

  3. Interestingly enough I texted Scott today and asked him to pray for me since I felt overwhelmed by my coworkers and was really aggitated. I must have needed today's devotional! He replied and said he would and that today's devotional was about bringing the light to peopleso I figured better get to work. My acts were simple and I didn't get to mention Jesus but I think I made their day. A coworker noticed bubblicious gum sitting on my desk and was totally excited and asked if she could have a piece bc it was her favorite kind grape. I told her she could have the whole pack and she super excited and said it made her day. I had open house at school tonight and after I was planning on getting some yogurt with a few coworkers so I gave the cashier the money in advance and told her to be sure not to let them pay. It was fun and we had a great discussion and it really helped ease my aggitations from the day. Scott said he is going to look for opportunities over the weekend since he is working from home. More sharing to come!
